Even though the website has been running for quite some time, this is the first review I make of the Twilight saga. I read all four books and enjoyed most of what I read. I’m certainly not a fan of “Twi-hard”, but once again the books were enjoyable and I was looking forward to seeing the adaptations of the movie. Let me start by saying that I was not a huge fan of the first movie, however the second movie got better. I also don’t think Robert Pattinson looks like what I imagined Edward to be. He is supposed to be one of the most attractive and desirable men you can see, and Mr. Pattinson is certainly not that. I like Kristen Stewart as much as I liked Bella in the books, which wasn’t much. Fortunately, Taylor Lautner is perfectly portrayed as Jacob, and he’s getting better with every movie.
Eclipse was by far my favorite of all the books. It wasn’t that heavy on the love story or love triangle, but it gave us more of a back story for some of the characters and had the greatest action of all the books. Fortunately, the movie follows this formula and because of this it is the most successful of the three movies that have been released so far. The basic story of Eclipse is that Victoria has returned (from the first movie and book) and wants revenge on Edward and Bella for killing their partner. So to take revenge, he’s creating an army of newly converted vampires to create total chaos and be able to inadvertently catch them and kill Bella. The Cullen clan learns of this plot and decides to join forces with the wolves to eliminate Victoria and her army.
I really like what director David Slade has done with the fight sequences and the love story. He walks the line between appeasing men and women by giving them enough of what they both want but without exaggeration. The boys will enjoy the intense action sequences from the movie, while the girls can enjoy the ongoing love story between Bella and Edward and their twisted love triangle with Jacob. I know it must be difficult for a new director to take over a movie in a series when the previous movies have been directed by two other people. The continuity between the first two films and this one is exceptional. You may not even notice much difference between the three movies and I, as a fan, appreciate that when watching a Movie review website.
I can hardly believe that this is the penultimate chapter of the Twilight saga in its film versions. It has been a great roller coaster in terms of quality, performance, direction, casting and the battle between Team Edward and Team Jacob. I feel like Eclipse is by far the best movie in the series and I’m glad they stayed so true to the source material. I’m curious to see how the series will end in the epic version of Breaking Dawn movie 2 currently in production under the direction of director Bill Condon. I am a huge fan of yours and hope you can make my least favorite book my most favorite movie. Until we see those movies in 2011, look at this one and see how it compares.
